About kwex
Kwex, also known as 'Kwexy' is a multi-genre urban music artist, musician and creative director living their ideal life while helping others do the same.
Manchester born David Kwex was taught how to play the drums at the early age of 5 by a drummer in the band at his fathers church. He became a drummer for the church band at around the age of 7 and played with them up until the age of 12. His father, as well as being the churches Pastor played guitar and his mother was a singer. So music was always in his blood.
He always loved rapping but at 13 years old fell in love with rapping to grime, garage and donk. This form of rapping known as ‘MCing’ brought him the name ‘Kwexy MC’ which was created as a variation of his middle name. This was later shortened to Kwex.
At 15 years old he started going to ‘Harmony Youth Project’ in Bolton. There he met and jammed alongside many talented individuals. Individuals including members of the ‘The Blackout Crew’ who brought out an album in 2009 featuring the well known single “Put a Donk on It”.
He also went to other youth projects to MC and get better by jamming with others. The main one being at ‘Lowton Youth Club’ where he again met and jammed alongside many talented individuals.
He then went onto University and unfortunately didn’t focus on music any longer, other than the occasional jam with friends. Fortunately he did gain an honours degree in Graphic Design & Visual Communication, along with an 8 year career as a sales executive. He spent the majority of his years in sales as a team leader, trainer or manager.
In 2022 Kwex slowly started dipping his toes back into the music scene but felt he was never able to find the time to give it the wanted attention. However, a hand injury in 2023 gave him a lot more time for music so he started dropping street videos which immediately started going viral. Since then he has continued to bring out more content, appear in many other music projects and release his first single “On one”.
Kwex promises to keep bringing us music we wont be able to resist bopping our heads to for as long as he has the energy and believe me when I say he has a lot of energy! So keep watch.
